Lyndhurst, NJ, June 10, 2014 Emergencies of all types can happen anywhere and at any time. Every second counts when it comes to notifying students, staff and patrons on school campuses, malls or a wide range of public venues with accurate and trustworthy information regarding immediate safety instructions.

Charles Saracino, President and CEO, X-Factor Communications says, “Making sure that warnings and notices are delivered within seconds during times of emergency or potential danger is critical. Our platform not only allows our clients to be able to quickly and confidently broadcast alerts to multiple network connected devices but also provides an interactive response capability back to the master control operator where he or she can provide additional information and guidance.”

The Mass Notifications system also provides the institutions or venue’s internal emergency planning and crisis management teams with verification of notification transmissions and responses during a critical incident, as required by the Clery Act Emergency Response and Evacuation Policies and Procedures.

X-Factor’s system is also equipped with a hierarchical control feature that provides targeted content distribution and allows the customer’s technology team to set strict permission guidelines using pre-set and/or customizable user rights for notifications and other types of communications content.

X-Factor has recently expanded its Mass Notifications system to include Mobile Alert Agent Native Applications, which can be used for both non-carrier or ‘over the top’ (OTT) communications, as well as traditional carrier-based delivery, allowing for instant alert messaging with response features to a diverse range of mobile and fixed receivers.

Brian Watts, CIO, X-Factor Communications says, “We are very pleased to announce the introduction of our new Mobile Alert Agent native apps feature that is managed from a single dashboard within our Mass Notification and Emergency Alert System. The ability to communicate with devices without relying on cellular carriers means that we can reach over 95% of network-enabled devices including smartphones, feature phones, tablets, digital signs and desktop PCs.

In addition to sending mass notifications and alerts, the platform can also be used to enhance internal communications by publishing, among other things, real-time details on weather advisories, environmental emergencies, system outages, employee benefit plans, reinforcing seasonal health messages and posting class cancellations.

X-FACTOR ANNOUNCES AVAILABILITY OF THE 4.0 RELEASE OF ITS DSCP:// DIGITAL SCREEN CONTROL PORTAL WITH NEW FEATURES AND SUPPORT FOR MULTIPLE DEVICES /news/2013/02/26/x-factor-announces-availability-of-the-4-0-release-of-its-dscp-digital-screen-control-portal-with-new-features-and-support-for-multiple-devices/ /news/2013/02/26/x-factor-announces-availability-of-the-4-0-release-of-its-dscp-digital-screen-control-portal-with-new-features-and-support-for-multiple-devices/#comments Tue, 26 Feb 2013 13:01:48 +0000 /news/?p=33 Company is one of the first to adopt HTML5 and RCS as fundamental building blocks of their platform architecture and “any content, any device, anywhere” strategy

February 26, 2013; South Hackensack, NJ – X-Factor Communications, LLC (“X-Factor”), the wholly owned subsidiary of X-Factor Communications Holdings, Inc. (OTC: XFCH), a premium provider of interactive digital media network software and services over its dmcp:// Digital Media Control Platform, announced today that it has expanded its platform capabilities, including the addition of HTML5 enabling publishing and broadcasting to multiple IP endpoint types, including digital signs, kiosks, desktops, tablets, SharePoint, intranet sites, telephones and mobile devices.

Based on extensive research and development, following months of discussion with customers and partners, X-Factor has added features and functionalitymaking it possible to easily deliver interactive content, more sophisticated and flexible templates, more automatic integration with a variety of messaging systems and social networks, and more powerful alerts. DSCP:// Digital Screen Control Portal Release 4.0 enhancements include:

  • The creation of an HTML-based browser, which includes HTML5 elements, enabling content to be pushed to any device with a browser that supports these elements;
  • Clickable content and alerts, engaging the viewer in ways not previously possible, turning what was one-way broadcasts into rich interactive experiences;
  • iFrame Objects, where an iFrame can be added to any template allowing the customer to display dynamic web-based content;
  • Channel Objects, enabling the addition of one channel embedded in another channel; and
  • Various Canvas Size Support.

The release, which is expected to go live in March 2013, is the most significant in the company’s history, as it incorporates HTML5 and RCS capabilities (using partner-provided add-ons), making it possible for all HTML5 enabled IP endpoints (smartphones, tablets, desktops, televisions, kiosks, signs and other displays) to display multimedia content in high-definition and without limitations based on operating systems.

Why It Matters:

  • X-Factor is an innovation leader in the digital media broadcasting, publishing and communications industries, enabling it to deploy these technologies to bring more value to companies wishing to deliver greater experiences to IP end-points.
  • As an early adopter of the new, more open industry standards, X-Factor is an even more flexible and highly “interoperable” partner which it believes will result in co-development opportunities through “embedding” X-Factor’s capabilities with other solutions.
  • The Company believes Release 4.0 will provide more compelling experiences for end-users while also making the administration of the platform easier for publishers, simpler for IT support teams in large enterprises, and more efficient for X-Factor’s development and support teams.

X-Factor has already been developing solutions which include combining unified communications for all fixed and mobile devices with content delivery and interactive user experiences. Some of these initial solutions are being demonstrated at Mobile World Congress 2013 conference in Barcelona this week.

“Working with X-Factor’s team, alongside another development partner, GENBAND has been able to create a completely unique solution that combines the ability for end-users to receive information, notifications, alerts, as well as make and receive phone calls, host video conferences and more,” said Patrick Gilbert, VP and Director of GENBAND’s Innovation Exchange. “X-Factor’s leadership in HTML5 and RCS made it possible to combine different types of communications experiences, and then share those experiences on both iOS and Android devices, with a consistently high quality user feel.”

“With a solid lead in deploying these two sets of open standards – HTML5 more for visual and video communications, and RCS for voice and other personal messaging communications – X-Factor is one of the first companies to be able to develop and deliver the next generation of highly interactive, high-definition, and deeply unified user experiences,” said Charles Saracino, CEO of X-Factor.

Definitions

HTML5 is the cornerstone of the Open Web Platform, a full programming environment for cross-platform applications with access to device capabilities; video and animations; graphics; style, typography, and other tools for digital publishing; extensive network capabilities; and more,” as defined by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), an international standards body where Member organizations, a full-time staff, and the public work together to develop Web standards. W3C primarily pursues its mission through the creation of Web standards and guidelines designed to ensure long-term growth for the Web (http://www.w3.org/). Over 375 organizations are Members of the Consortium, which is jointly run by the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (MIT CSAIL) in the USA, the European Research Consortium for Informatics and Mathematics (ERCIM) headquartered in France and Keio University in Japan.

RCS is a service upgrade that marks the transition of messaging and voice capabilities from Circuit Switched technology to an all-IP world. RCS and Voice over Long Term Evolution (VoLTE) share the same IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) investment. For consumers, it has the potential to combine voice and SMS with instant messaging or chat, live video sharing and file transfer across all devices and networks, via mobile address books.

While employees typically have access to a wealth of internal corporate information, due to the demands on their time, they often do not take the time to look for information unless it is related to a topic that they are specifically interested in. X-Factor’s Enterprise Desktop enables company leaders to get key messages out, whether in screensaver mode or seeing content within the desktop player. Employees simply click for more information on any particular subject or to view a live webcast. X-Factor’s Enterprise Desktop complements existing publishing systems including Microsoft SharePoint.

MOBILE APPLICATIONS

X-Factor’s mobile interactive capabilities extend the power of digital signage to audiences’ mobile devices. Through X-Factor’s enhanced mobile engagement solutions, its mobile applications augment point of display to deliver information, marketing, ads, coupons and offers directly to an individual’s smartphone or tablet. X-Factor’s product range can be combined to support large scale “real world” and “virtual world” campaigns. For example, users can be sent to one of X-Factor’s unique digital players, optimized for their mobile device. After enjoying an entertaining experience at a media wall or other digital sign, consumers can download the player and its contents to enjoy after leaving the venue. At interactive kiosks, consumers can receive wayfinding directions through a simple SMS text, or can receive an e-ticket or coupon instantly.

MULTIMEDIA PLAYER

X-Factor has developed a multimedia player which can be easily branded and customized to aggregate content of all types (photos, animations, videos, audio files, interactive applications, and more) into a single, intuitive user experience. The player that runs automatically, without having the user download a special application, and brings multiple content feeds together in an exciting user experience. X-Factor’s digital media and creative services teams can easily and cost-efficiently design and deploy custom branded media players, and because the players are fed by X-Factor’s dmcp:// platform, all the advantages of our related products, including the company’s advertising sales monetization products dscp:// Storefront and DMAX are easily included.

INTERACTIVE KIOSKS

Working with partners who provide hardware and network infrastructure, X-Factor has released advanced interactive kiosks software, enabling audience engagement and interaction, advertising and marketing content creation, publishing, distribution and management. This software allows remote monitoring of kiosks from a single location, multi-user privileges for hierarchal (local and national) publishing, targeted advertising and transparent kiosk management and collection of user information. The company works with partners to ensure clients’ goals for their customized interactive kiosk network are met, ensuring that all the elements in the solution meet stringent guidelines – from the hardware and the kiosk interface and features to the appropriate network connectivity and uptime.

“Our R&D team has been hard at work, and we are very proud to announce this set of new capabilities today,” said Charles Saracino, Chief Executive Officer. “The world of digital interactive communications is rapidly evolving and with our solutions – which include all the benefits of software-as-a-service delivery and intuitive and powerful access through our platform and portals — make it possible for thousands of corporations and their agencies to participate in the future today.”

Earlier this mouth, X-Factor also announced the availability of two new solutions, C4 and MACC.

X-Factor’s exclusive C4 “Corporate Communications Control Center” is an easy to use software-based solution for multi-media, multi-channel and multi-dimensional internal and external corporate communications. X-Factor’s new MACC “Marketing and Advertising Control Center” builds upon over five years of experience developing, implementing and managing multimedia “immersive” digital media networks.
